Lebanon Trip 2010 Part #1
It has been a while and a lot has taken place since my last blog post. One of those “a lots” was my recent missions trip back to Lebanon for a second time. Over the course of the next few days I will blog my experience and share pictures/stories (as much as I can without giving too much detail for the safety of the ministry and missionaries serving in Lebanon) of what I experienced on our week long visit.
DAY 1 – As we prepared to leave for Lebanon, that same weekend we were to leave, the volcano Eyjafjallajökull in Iceland and all of its ash became active. Almost all if not all the flights heading into England were cancelled or postponed. Typically the main connection point for flights into the Middle East are through London, as was the case the previous time we traveled to Lebanon. I knew that God’s hand was on this trip from the very beginning as our flights, booked well in advance, were oddly enough routed from JFK in NY through Amman, Jordan (something that we didn’t realize until days before the trip). God itinerary and provision for the trip was in place from the very beginning and were were able to fly around the ash and land 13 hours later in Lebanon without a hitch. Needless to say, it was a small detail that we never anticipated that had huge implications for the trip overall. After landing in Beruit, Lebanon, we had a chance to reconnect with Grant and his wife Laura and slept well after a long flight and crossing 6 times zones, that, in all likelihood, was totally made possible by God’s provision.
Here is a video of the volcano Eyjafjallajökull in Iceland and all of its ash.
