As promised here are the notes from the YS OneDay Training event.

Session 1 – The Word Is More Than Words

We can all admit that:

1. We know that none of us follows everything Scripture says.

2. We know we don’t understand it all.

3. We know that the Bible is not our object of worship!

The Word is more than words: but it’s still words.

• God spoke the universe into reality.

• God had conversations with Adam and Eve.

• God wrote the 10 commandments on tablets.

• God told the prophets, “Write down these words.”

The Word is more than words: it has inherent power.

The Word is more than words: it’s alive.

There are a combination of factors that cause the Bible to be more like a conversation partner than a book of facts, stories and moral principles.

We are alive.

The God of scripture is alive .

The Word is more than words: it’s the story of God’s interaction with God’s creation.

• We don’t just know the Bible, it knows us.

• We don’t just believe the Bible, we live its truth.

• We don’t just explain the Bible, it explains us.

• We don’t just talk truth, we walk truth.
